Regardless of the repeated verbal statements or comments of a sexual nature to any woman, including demeaning references to gender or derogatory comments about body or clothing; or profane or obscene language or gestures, American men retain selective hearing because they know since the dawning of the ages, it has always been "the woman's fault" for talking to strangers in the first place; for being at the wrong place at the wrong time; for consuming alcoholic beverages, for dressing inappropriately and seductively, and/or even for being born a lesbian.
